The production of limestone in West Virginia is vital to the economic development of our region. Limestone and limestone products are used in building new roads, new bridges and the maintenance of West Virginia highways as well as our primary and secondary road systems. Limestone used in black top, tar and chipping and concrete helps preserve and protect our road system which take us to work, take our children safely to school and our families to vacations across the state.
Since 1975, the J. F. Allen Company has operated the Elkins quarry safely mining more than one million tons of quality limestone a year. Limestone products produced at both our Elkins and Mashey Gap locations have assisted customers and contractors throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Concrete and blocks which depend on limestone produced by the quarry are used in a 19 county area. J. F. Allen Company has implemented the industry’s most stringent quality controls to ensure compliance with all state and federal environmental standards.
